Laser Skin Resurfacing
Return to youthful, glowing skin
Over time, the aging process, environmental pollutants, acne, and other factors make our skin appear tired, worn, damaged, and old. Laser skin resurfacing allows you to roll back years of accumulated damages on your skin’s surface with a single painless procedure.
At Vilate Med Spa in Salt Lake City, UT, we use the latest cutting-edge laser technologies to reverse the signs of aging, smoothen your textural irregularities, and give you glowing skin.
What is Laser Skin Resurfacing?
Laser skin resurfacing is a non-surgical and non-invasive procedure that involves using lasers to smoothen the skin texture and appearance. The treatment can be performed with ablative or non-ablative laser technologies.
Ablative laser technologies damage the skin’s surface, remove the damaged layers of the skin, and reveal the smoother skin underneath. Non-ablative lasers deliver the energy deep within the skin tissues to encourage collagen production, gradually tightening the skin tissues.
At Vilate Med Spa, we use non-ablative laser technologies to treat your skin concerns without damaging the surface skin, ensuring a smoother recovery without downtime.
What areas can be treated?
Laser skin resurfacing treats most age-, acne-, or sun-related skin problems, including:
- Wrinkles and fine lines
- Skin laxity
- Acne scars
- Stretch marks
- Vascular lesions
- Uneven skin tone
- Enlarged pores
- Textural irregularities
Laser Skin Resurfacing with ResurFX
ResurFX by Lumenis is a cutting-edge, non-ablative, and fractional laser technology that improves your overall skin tone and reverses years of skin damage without damaging the surface skin. ResurFX provides the desired results without days of peeling, flaking, and other uncomfortable side-effects.
ResurFX is an incredibly versatile non-ablative laser technology that can be customized to address each skin concern, skin type, and skin density. It works by delivering non-ablative radiofrequency energy deep within the skin tissues to encourage collagen production. As your body produces collagen, your skin appears smoother, tighter, and clearer.
Who is a Candidate?
Laser skin resurfacing with ResurFX is suitable for everyone, regardless of skin type, skin concerns, or skin color. There’s a common misconception that laser skin resurfacing is only suitable for light skin colors — that may have been true long ago, but not anymore. Advanced laser technologies, such as ResurFX, can be adjusted to address specific skin types and colors.
Laser skin resurfacing addresses most skin concerns, regardless of their source. However, Dr. Jason Johnson will review your medical history and examine your skin conditions before the treatment to determine if you’re a viable candidate.
Your laser skin resurfacing will start with a personal consultation with Dr. Jason Johnson, your exceptional board-certified physician. He carefully examines your skin concerns, skin type, and skin color to curate a detailed skin analysis. He also discusses your cosmetic goals and expectations to curate the ideal treatment plan for your specific needs.
Laser Skin Resurfacing Treatment Overview
The clinicians will first cleanse the treatment areas to remove all the dirt or makeup debris. A topical anesthetic or numbing cream will be applied over the treatment areas to ensure a comfortable experience. And the ResurFX device will be used to deliver non-ablative laser energy into the targeted regions. The entire treatment concludes within 20 minutes, depending on the number of treatment areas.
You might experience some redness and swelling after the treatment, but you can resume all your normal activities and work immediately. The recovery process is fairly smooth and painless — your skin might feel sunburnt for a few days, but the discomfort is mild and temporary. You must avoid sun exposure for a few days after the treatment. If you must step outside, wear a sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 to protect your skin.
The results will gradually become evident over the next few weeks. You’ll need multiple treatments for optimal results, with each session activating more of your body’s collagen production capabilities. Generally speaking, most patients need 3 to 4 ResurFX treatments spaced a month apart each. But Dr. Johnson will curate your specific treatment plan and frequency based on your unique needs.
