Soften up your Face Wrinkles with Xeomin
One of the most prominent and noticeable wrinkles are the lines between the eyebrows. These lines are called frown lines and are often confused with glabellar lines or the lines that appear on the forehead above the eyebrows, and run horizontally. Frown lines are vertical lines that appear due to the expression of a person. They are the results of repeated knitting of tissue between the eyebrows into folds. At Vilate Med Spa, we are glad to offer the most effective Xeomin Reno and Sparks residents have available to treat those frown lines that change how you look.
What is Xeomin?
Xeomin is an injection that is used to temporarily lessen the appearance of facial wrinkles, especially frown lines or the lines between the eyebrows. It is made from the bacteria that cause botulism, incobotulinumtoxinA also called botulinum toxin type A. Botulinum toxin type A acts by blocking the nerve activity in the muscles, which causes a temporary decrease in muscle activity.
Xeomin has been approved by the FDA to treat facial wrinkles and lines. The cosmetic indication includes treatment for moderate to severe frown lines, crow’s feet, and forehead wrinkles. It is similar to other drugs in the same category such as Botox and Dysport.
Xeomin is a prescription medicine that is also used to treat the following health conditions in adults over 18 years of age:
- It is injected into the glands that make saliva to treat Sialorrhea or chronic drooling.
- It is used to treat eye muscle conditions caused by nerve disorders or abnormal spasm of the eyelids called blepharospasm.
- Cervical dystonia or severe spasms in the neck muscles
- Muscle stiffness in the wrists, fingers, elbows, ankles, or toes.
Are you an ideal candidate for Xeomin?
Like any other cosmetic injectables, Xeomin has its set of restrictions. It is not a suitable treatment for all patients. The effects of Xeomin on the health of pregnant women is not known. We suggest that you consult with your healthcare provider to establish that you are a suitable candidate. At Vilate Med Spa, your treatment will start with a consultation with your healthcare provider, who will determine if you are an ideal candidate for the procedure.
Xeomin is not suitable if you:
- Have been treated with other botulinum toxin injections in the last four months
- Had recent facial surgery or other surgical cosmetic treatments
- Have a seizure disorder
- Have a heart disease
- Have amyotrophic lateral sclerosis or Lou Gehrig disease
- Have myasthenia gravis or any condition that causes muscle weakness
- Suffer from asthma or any breathing disorder
- Have problems swallowing
- Experience weakness in your facial muscles such as trouble raising your eyebrows, or have droopy eyelids among others
- Have bleeding problems or take blood thinners
At Vilate Med Spa, your past and present medical conditions are considered along with your medications, allergies, and family medical history to determine if you are a suitable candidate.
The Xeomin Treatment Procedure
The Xeomin treatment procedure starts with a consultation with your healthcare provider who will determine if you are an ideal candidate. A physical examination of your face is conducted and a treatment plan is made. It is important to note that the Xeomin or botulinum toxin injection must be administered by an experienced and trained medical professional.
The treatment area is first cleaned using an antiseptic, and topical anesthesia is applied. Once the treatment area is numbed, Xeomin is injected as per the treatment plan. The injections must be spaced at least three months apart if repeated treatments are required. As using this injection more than what is prescribed does not make the results more effective, we advise you to inform your healthcare provider how long has it been since your last Xeomin, Dysport, Botox, or any botulinum toxin injection.
Like any injectable, Xeomin can cause health problems if it is administered wrongly or if more than the prescribed amount is administered. You are advised to approach a trained and experienced healthcare provider for your Xeomin treatment. Dr. Jason Johnson of Vilate Med Spa is experienced in administering the safest and most effective Xeomin Reno and Sparks have to offer, and he will ensure all necessary precautions are taken.
